The breakthrough duo, Tribe Mafia, was scheduled to appear on their first Official SXSW stage this year but as so many were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, these talented young artists also felt the sting of having all of their SXSW performances cancelled. Nevertheless, they did manage to drop a banging new high energy album titled "Teepee Gang."
ARTIST BIO:
Both members of Tribe Mafia are from Austin, Texas. The duo consists of Chinasa Broxton & Dashawn Daniels. They're most known for their breakthrough hit, "Like Cola", that reached over 1 million views on YouTube. Their music is inspired by the likes of great entertainers like Michael Jackson, Chris Brown, Nipsey Hustle,Lil Wayne, & Jay-Z to name a few.

Chinasa shares some personal insights about their ascent in the ATX music scene. "We went from recording our songs on our cellphones to touring with Pop Star legend Akon in Brazil. We feel like the Austin Hip Hop scene is a work in progress due to the struggles most artists face in Austin. The city seems to focus mostly on genres like Bluegrass, Country, & Rock n Roll. BUT, other artists including ourselves, are working toward getting the Hip Hop scene here more attention."
Their project "TeePee Gang" was designed to show their fans their hype songs with a blend of lyricism & mosh pit high energy. The levels of their energy on this project are well balanced & so far they say it has been well received by their supporters. Their song, "Like Cola", has over 200,000 streams!
I asked them what they hoped new listeners come away with after listening to their new music. "We want them to say dang! We hope they don't change when they make it big, BIG! If you've ever listened to your favorite artist while they were still underground then you understand that bond." Chinasa went on to add, "We hope we touch any first time listeners with exciting new content that keeps them wanting to listen to more Tribe Mafia music in the future."
