Hello everyone! I hope you had a great Cinco de Mayo holiday. My family & I celebrated it by having fajita tacos on the date of May 5th which conveniently landed on Taco Tuesday this year! Keeping that theme in mind, this week's blog will be aimed at giving some well deserved attention to an upcoming Latina artist Ative & her new music video she recently released for her song "Runnin". But, before we jump into her wonderful new creation, I will give a brief history lesson on the background of Cinco de Mayo. Being of Latino descent & being raised in Goliad, Texas, I have a strong pride of my heritage & the birth place of Mexican General Ignacio Zaragoza.
When “Cinco de Mayo” is mentioned, one of the most symbolic battles, the Battle of Puebla is often brought up. General Ignacio Zaragoza, with only a small army, took on the powerful French forces of Napoleon III during the Second French Intervention.
Ignacio Zaragoza Seguin was born on March 24, 1829 in the city of Presidio de La Bahia de Espiritu Santo, now Goliad, in southern Texas. Below is a picture of the legendary Goliad Flag.

Ative, aka Evita Bermudez , just released a new music video for her song "Runnin". The video was published to her YouTube channel on April 29th, 2020. I follow her on Facebook & happened to see her post the link so naturally I checked it out. First thing I noticed was the passion in her voice. The song is an emotionally charged experience as she cries out lines like "Was I , was I so wrong? I thought I knew the words to your song, but was I, was I so wrong? I thought I could love the words to your song." The visual aspect of the video is simple but the focused image of her in a bathroom mirror was the perfect message for this song in my opinion. It made me focus more on the lyrics of the song which I really enjoy. I hope to hear more music from Ative in the near future. This song sounds like it has radio potential to me.
