College of Hip Hop Knowledge is more than a showcase it's a movement

CHHK contains 2 founding members Big Mic and Jsun the Prophesor.  If you would like to hear any of our music click on any of our pics to the left and be directed to our music pages, give a listen and a like.  We founded CHHK in 2016 with the mission statement community, unity and opportunity and it's something we universally stand by.

Michael Pereida (Big Mic)-  Michael Pereida aka Big Mic was born & raised in South Texas in the Victoria/Goliad area where the southern music sound & the tejano music culture surrounded him as a youth. In  the mid to late 80's his big sister introduced him to East Coast Hip Hop pioneers RUN DMC, Heavy D, Rakim, & ATCQ to name a few. Those influences made a lasting impression on his artist approach & direction. His lyrical picture painting writing style allows listeners to delve into his work & follow along with a visual aspect of each concept he conveys in his music. His lyrics speak of unity, freedom & building the community/society through Hip Hop while paying homage to boom bap emceeing & substance through his thought provoking art.

In March 2016 he went on tour with the BRB tour all the way to NYC and back.  His music & brand have grown since the tour ended & has allowed Big Mic to now produce his own monthly event named "Rhyme Time" that has now evolved into an annual festival.  The festival encompasses the elements of hip-hop ranging from DJ's, Breakdancing, Emcees, Graffiti, & Producers. Hip Hop is alive & thriving through his vision & pen.

Jason Anderson-Ebener (Jsun the Prophesor)-  Jsun was born in Princeton, Illinois, there he crafted his poetry and honed his musical talent. He had his first success in poetry when he was published in the third grade, after winning a national competition in poetry, for his poem Dreams.  At the age of 13 he moved to Austin and started performing with bands singing.  He soon found that he enjoyed hip-hop music over singing rock and quickly jumped into freestyling.  He came up in the ATX freestyle scene in the 90's which demanded you be on your game.  If you couldn't freestyle back then you were going nowhere in the ATX scene.

In 1998 he hooked up with his friends Mimic and Muenster and formed CBF (Creativity Brought Forth) to moderate success.  In 2000 he brought his sound to Boulder, Colorado. Where he was heavy on the battle scene and got his music into heavy rotation on the college radio station at CU.  In 2001, he returned to ATX to continue to work with CBF.  CBF split in 2003 due to multiple circumstances that arose nothing negative just life.

After CBF split he spent some years of self discovery to find and hone his unique solo artist sound.  In 2008 he was finally ready to start working on a solo project entitled Music Through the Windows.  While working on an EP he was performing out and noticed there were very few avenues for emerging artists to debut their style, everything was really buddy-buddy for booking.  He remembered back foundly to the days of the Lyricist Lounge in the NYC and wanted to bring that here to the ATX so all artists had a chance to be heard and appreciated for their craft.  That's when he came up with the College of Hip Hop Knowledge and started trying to execute with venues.  Kick Butt Coffee Music and Booze gave him his first shot on March 24th, 2016, the birth of a movement.  Through positive vibes, great music, and keeping it 100%, Jsun branched out and hooked up with Big Mic and Govinachi and formed what is currently the College of Hip Hop Knowledge.
