AKAdemics is a super group consisting of Big Mic, Jsun The Prophesor, Ative Evita and DJ Berlin who formed to further and preserve the cultural elements of hip hop. Big Mic, Ative Evita and Jsun are accomplished MC's in their own right and come together like a smith's hammer, forge and heat to create uniquely crafted and cadenced rhymes, while consummate turntablist and veteran DJ Berlin holds down the tables, as one of the best scratch masters in the ATX ever to do it. They somehow find a way to champion their own music even with all they do for local ATX scene and artists on their label, College of Hip Hop Knowledge, which Big Mic and Jsun are the respective owner operators. They released their debut video and single, Creation of Destruction, in 2018 to critical acclaim. After that they followed it up with the release of 2 singles in the roll out to their much anticipated first album. Brighter Lights featured local stand out Govinachi while Phoenix, their final single release, featured west coast legend Abstract Rude. Finally their debut album, The Syllabus, dropped in October 2019 worldwide through a Sony/Orchard distribution deal and can be found everywhere you stream your favorite music. AKAdemics wear many hats CEOs, producers, promoters, fathers, but their favorite will always be performers.
Big Tree #4Real represents eastside ATX through and through. He has that southern swing with that eastside ATX vibe. No mumble rap here he can go from lyrical, to turn up, to trap, to twerk music, to just that southern swing making Tree a very versatile songwriter and lyricist. The first signee to the label in 2019 he brings a polished, gritty street sense to the team as displayed in his music. Check out his catalog of music available on all DSP platforms.
Jsun The Prophesor, Chairman/Owner of the CHHK, artist, producer, engineer and tireless promoter for College of Hip Hop Knowledge Records, has a gritty yet poetic style with an extensive vocabulary lending to his multisyllabic rhyme schemes. Poetry and songwriting always coming natural to him having his first poem published in the third grade. He has released many songs and toured around the United States doing shows but only got into official publishing in 2016 releasing a compilation album The Curriculum in 2017 and released his first official solo album in 2018, Music Through the Windows. Big Mic blends an aggressive rhyme scheme with potent bars beckoning back to the days of Big Pun with an underlying grittiness that speaks from the streets. He has had success touring across the United States and bested many foes in battles demonstrating his off the top freestyle prowess. He isa dedicated father who still manages to find time to spit out some bangers. He had a lot of success with his freshman album Optimus Rhyme, nominated for Austin Hip Hop Awards Album of the Year 2016 and is active President of College of Hip Hop Knowledge LLC. Tall Kyle is a brutally honest MC with bars that are both topical and relevant to modern times. A clever blend of boom bap and trap mixed with a style only Kyle can bring gives this lyricist his unique sound. Him and producer ASF have teamed up for 3 projects as Bong Water and he is now branching out and really developing himself as an artist with his own sound, delivery, and subject matter relevant to life and his own personal demons. Sound Of The Underground is a rap duo that came to be by what some may see as fate. In the summer of 2006, The Culprit & Mic Trey [Austin, TX] were recording solo albums when they were faced with having to scrap their efforts due to a fallout with the studio confiscating their recordings. As a last resort a forceful extraction of the motherboard containing those files was executed. Unfortunately the masters were not available so with only ruff mixes of both uncompleted projects the two decided to merge the albums into a mixtape and title it, "Sound Of The Underground". After releasing a follow up entitled, "2" in 2012 as well as forming the award winning super group "SoopaFrendz" Mic Trey and The Culprit have retained the moniker Sound Of The Underground [S.O.T.U] and signed to the Austin, TX label College of Hip Hop Knowledge [CHHK]. CasinoATX began his music career in 1995 by teaming up with the well known Austin rapper Nook, and became one of his on stage hype men. For three years Casino toured, recorded, and performed alongside Nook learning the in's and out's of the business, as well as learning how to perform to crowds. During his three years with Nook Casino found himself moving three different times. First to Worcester MA, then to Houston TX, where he attended the University of Houston, and finally to San Francisco CA. All the while picking up the hip-hop culture from each area and blending it into his ever-growing repertoire of rap.
In the early 2000's Casino stepped out on his own showing not only his talents on stage, but his production skills, and a keen business acumen. He spear-headed the groups Black Hands, Gutta Gang, and L.O.P., to state wide, regional, and nationwide success. From 2002-2010 Casino performed at more than 2,000 shows opening up for acts such as Lil Flip, Scarface, T.I., Lil John, Pitbull, and Snoop Dogg to name a few. Casino is also the producer/writer of the breakthrough 2007 hit single “Game Time” that featured on the BillBoard charting album “Mike Watts Vol 1” by Mike Watts. Casino was also the co-recipient of multiple awards during these years including, The Austin Hip-Hop Awards for Best Single (2008), and Best Live Performance (2008), as well as The Austin Hip-Hop Awards for Best Single (2010), and Best Live Performance (2010). 2011 proved to be a breakthrough year for Casino, as he launched his solo career. He began his mixtape blitz that year and over the next year and a half he released seven different mix tapes, generating over 10,000 downloads online. Casino has released 14 different albums and mixtapes with his former groups, Black Hands, Gutta Gang, & L.O.P., as well as solo projects with the likes of DJ Rapid Ric, DJ Curren$y, DJ Hella Yella, and BumSquad DJ's founder DJ Latin Prince. Casino's hard work earned him the honor of being inducted into the Texas Music Museum for the advancement of Rap/Hip-Hop from Austin TX. With his new hit singles “Drop” and “Make It Look Easy”, and an overseas distribution deal with Australian based company Wolf Entertainment, Casino is poised and ready for worldwide success. Now a signed CHHK artist he has released 2 albums alongside CHHK The Street Nerd and the album he just dropped Kush Doctor. Ative Evita is a multifaceted artist who can sing as prolifically as she can rap. Her voice harkens back to smoke filled jazz clubs with the gravitas of an Amy Whinehouse in the unique smoky presence of it. She also has the chops of a seasoned rapper and can easily keep up with artists such as Snow Tha Product in ability and prowess in her writing and delivery. Watch for her to make a major run with CHHK in 2022 as her new music hits all markets.
There aren't many MC's in Texas who can match the speed, precision, and ferocity that Mic Trey brings to the table as an artist. Highly respected and celebrated in the ATX as one of the coldest spitters in the game. He has a project titled The Alignment currently out and is working on his follow up with CHHK.
The Culprit is an artist who needs no introduction. His tireless work ethic, technically gifted style, and consummate songwriting have earned him a place in the hall of fame of rap. Part of the legendary supergroup SoopaFrendz, The Culprit raps, engineers, and produces. On top of all of this, he is a loving father who puts family first.
The Culprit is a rare combination of talent, great songwriting, professionalism while laid back, honest, and straight forward. His creative rhymes and tongue twister verses are some of the best in the business holding their own on tracks with the likes of Hopsin. DJ Berlin is one of the best scratch masters in the ATX, and his career has spanned over two decades. He is the College of Hip Hop Knowledge's DJ, part of AKAdemics, and has rocked with many legends through the years. His DJ sets are always fresh and unique, and he is also a phenomenal EDM producer. With his wide variety of experiences, DJ Berlin continues to bring high energy and cutting-edge music to the crowd.
